On the chopping block

Strict testing standards were being observed. From left to right, (all organic) Ruby Red, Rio Star, and Golden something-or-other. Note the varying structures. Ruby seems to have fairly uniform cell sizes, while the other two have more variety, some skinny, some quite large cells. Also, Ruby's rind is quite a bit thinner then the other two. It should also be noted that Ruby was a bit more ripe then the others. In the banana realm, Ruby would have brown skin all around at this point, while the others would be yellow with probably no browning at all.

Ruby

Rio

Golden

The tool: Multiple uses here. Eat cereal, 'spoon' things just like a normal spoon, but when it comes to enjoying a grapefruit, these guys simply pull away from the field. There is no comparison.

Action shot

Don't forget the best part!

As we enjoyed these juicy fruits, Deanna and I said the first word that came to mind regarding each particular fruit. Ruby's words are: sweet and juicy, Rio's are: Classic and firm, Golden's are: Tropical and light.

Patrick,

Awesome Shots! And I like the "on the chopping block" concept, perhaps more of these to come?

Thanks for posting the 9-5 ride info! Would be fun to see you and Deanna and any other B-Ham mojo crew down here.

Plenty of walnuts still for yous and perhaps some home-brew kombucha ready too.

How has the weather, trail conditions been? We just had some snow down low here the other night.

Grapefruit look awesome! Thanks again, what will be next on the block?

Alex,

Yeah, we had a ton of fun testing out the fruit. It was great.

I'd love to come down to the nine to fiver but it completely hinges on me finding work that pays money. I'm pretty much locked up here in bham right now. Could be worse.

Crazy you got some snow. It's been pretty nice up here, a bit more typical but still more sun then we are used to!

The chopping block needs to feel the heft of a 2lb PB&J and the caress of a large, sharp, knife...

The new PB&J

Patrick, Bikes, and Joy!

a "D" in there too of course,

Patrick & Deanna, Bikes and Joy.

The deadline for entry is April 1.

I'm headed out Sunday for a MTB road trip in Northern California. Pictures perhaps.

Hope you are well, cobbage and riding, I think I was probably sleeping in at the parents' placewhen you were riding Sunday.

Entry to the 9-5er is april 1st decision time? good to know. It's not looking good, regarding my attendance... Just got a job! but along with that much less free time... Enjoying my last week of freedom. Lots a bicycling, bikrams, and good food/company! TP is up here right now, taking over the place. Good times are being had! I think I'll be heading to Atown for the mtA super D on June 13th. Maybe cruise in a coupla-few days early style. Kick it.
